Pegging 101: A Beginner's Guide with DMND

PEGGING 101: BEGINNER’S GUIDE

We partnered with vlogger and sex toy sexpert Amanda Sovago-Royal to create: Pegging 101: Beginner's Guide. Amanda wanted to address the questions and concerns of a number of her followers, especially those who consider themselves beginners, and are interested in learning more about pegging. We think this vid is great for anyone interested in beginning anal play, and we hope you enjoy!  Check out some of the highlights below, and shop the Pegging 101: Beginner's Guide Collection here.

EDUCATE YOURSELF (video at 1:20)

The basics of pegging overlap with the basics of any anal play. As Amanda emphasizes, educating yourself is the most important starting point. And, a great starting resource for beginner’s interested in learning about pegging is: “The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Men,” by Bill Brent.

LUBRICATE, LUBRICATE, AND LUBRICATE SOME MORE (video at 3:30)

Amanda stresses a crucial lesson from The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Men - the importance of using a lubricant in connection with any type of anal play, including pegging.

While any water-based lube can be used for anal play (we often recommend Sliquid Sassy, because of its thicker texture), many find that silicone lubricant is better-suited because it lasts longer (video at 4:15).

BUT DON'T USE SILICONE LUBE ON SILICONE TOYS (video at 4:34)

If you are incorporating silicone toys into your pegging exploration, there is a risk these toys will degrade if you use a silicone lubricant.  As an alternative to a pure silicone lubricant, Sliquid Silk is recommended as a happy medium.  Silk is a hybrid water and silicone lube, and contains about 9% silicone.

Many of the higher-end silicone products we carry will not be affected by Sliquid Silk, but there is always a possibility that some silicone blends could be degraded by this product. We suggest, based on Sliquid's guidance, that you test Silk on the base of the sex toy before using it.

If you are interested in learning (even) more about lubricants, check out “Kate Sloan’s Guide to the Best Lubes for Anything You Want to Do,” or Dizzy Girl’s “Confused About Lube? Here’s How to Choose,” on our blog.

INCORPORATING SEX TOYS (video at 5:40)

While there are many (many) booty toys (link is to our entire collection) Amanda talks about a couple of sex toy options for beginners. Specifically, the Figo Silicone Tear Drop Anal Plug, which comes in three sizes (small, medium and large), and is ideal for anal “training,” (video at 6:03). And, the Petite Sensations Bubbles Vibrating Plug (at 7:28).

STORING THE BOOTY FOR YOUR BOOTY (video at 8:12)

Now that you've acquired some fun products to begin exploring anal play, Amanda recommends you invest in a toy storage bag, like the Sugar Sak!

We hope you enjoyed this video collaboration, and would love to hear your thoughts and comments on what we should include in our next video.
